The School of Law is home to more than 1,700 undergraduates and postgraduates, including nearly seventy-five doctoral students. The disciplines within our School - law, criminology, sociology, social policy, politics and international relations - enjoy strong synergies and world class reputations. The inter-relationships between the different subjects in our School and the inter-disciplinary perspectives of our staff enable student to develop the intellectual ability and confidence to succeed during your time at University and in their lives afterwards.

Middlesex has a proud tradition of teaching each of the subjects within the School over the last fifty years, and our research credentials can be measured in the number of world class publications and grants we continue to secure. Many of our staff have international reputations as scholars, advisors and social commentators, and are regularly called upon by a host of actors, including international organizations, governmental and non-governmental bodies, the media and industries all over the world, to contribute insights into problems and processes across jurisdictions. As a consequence, the education students receive transcends the text-book, and provides a real-time, real-life flavour, particular attractive to future employers. Our research is professionally and politically influential. Through conferences, training courses (including for judges), consultancy, and litigation managed in the European Court of Human Rights, we engage continuously with the legal system, as well as with public bodies, companies and NGOs in law and international relations both in the UK and internationally.

The School of Law has pioneered online learning technologies, ensuring our students have access to rich learning materials to supplement lectures, seminars and workshops. We emphasise skills development in practical areas such as mooting and legal research. Our student-focused teaching staff, in conjunction with our network of administrative staff, are available to speak to students individually and ensure that they are well supported during their time at the University.

The Law Department offers supportively tutored, research-led undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivered at our Hendon, Mauritius and Dubai campuses. In London, we also supervise a large number of PhD students, especially in European and international law, international politics and human rights.
