Distinguished guest lecture on sustainability by the Law and Politics Department of Middlesex University in Dubai

As part of the Department of Law and Politics outreach strategy for 2016/17, Middlesex University in Dubai hosted a guest lecture with a new industry partner, GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI). GCC BDI is the leading and pre-eminent GCC not-for-profit organisation that guides board directors of organisations, from state owned enterprises and family-owned businesses to listed companies, to acquire the know-how and the tools to reach and sustain effective governance.

GCC BDI's four founding partners are SABIC, Saudi Aramco, Investcorps and Emirates NBD, and it is supported by four advisory firms: Allen & Overy, Heidrick & Struggles, McKinsey & Company, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, as well as the key regional regulatory authorities.

GCC BDI now works with over 630 Alumni members and it is the largest and most influential network of directors in the region.  

The first guest lecture dealt with the topic of sustainability titled ‘what are we doing to the planet?’ delivered by Dr Sanju Deenapanray, Managing Director at ELIAEcological Living in Action

Dr Deenapanray has worked in various fields in the capacity of researcher, project coordinator and consultant in Taiwan, France South Korea, Australia, Sweden and Mauritius. He has been a Member of UNEP’s Expert Meeting Group on developing an Inclusive Green Growth Index. His passion is an ecologically sustainable future and this is now what he devotes his time to achieve.

Speaking after the lecture Jane Valls GCC BDI Executive Director said:

“I am delighted that Middlesex University Dubai hosted this guest lecture in collaboration with GCC Board Directors Institute with Dr Sanju Deenapanray, this was a very Interesting discussion on Corporate Sustainability”.

Dr Tenia Kyriazi, Senior Lecturer in Law and Course Programme Coordinator for Law and Politics said: “We have an outreach strategy in place for 2016/17 with firms, corporate and government entities in the region and we are talking to various stakeholders at the moment.  I am looking forward to further collaborations with existing and new partners in terms of guest lectures and workshops”.
