BCS ICT Conference 2017

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, is committed to making IT good for society, having over 70,000 members world-wide (created in 1957 based in the U.K.)

The Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) Middle East Section covering GCC, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon & Egypt was established in 2005. Under the Patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, the BCS ICT 2017 Conference will be held On October 29, 2017. To know more about the conference, Click here

As Part of the Conference, in the spirit of the Year of Giving, this year’s programme includes a National Level Student Competition. The objective of this event is to provide students a unique platform where they use technology to showcase their creativity and enhance their interest in the areas of Mobility, Security, Communication, Collaboration, Environment and Wellness for the Future Cities, which is aligned with the UAE's Vision 2021 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to ensure sustainable development while preserving the environment, and to achieve a perfect balance between economic and social development.

Intellectual Property of the application remains with the students who developed the system.

Participation

Teams of 2 - 3 Members allowed

Open to all University Undergraduate students in the UAE

Submission

First Round – Submission of Abstracts 15th May, 2017

First round of submissions will allow students to register themselves for the event by submitting an abstract.

Second Round – Video/Prototype + Detailed Project Description/Report 15th July, 2017

Second round will allow students to submit their prototypes with detailed project descriptions. They can submit this by directly submitting the prototype or by submitting a video.

Third Round – Presentation with Fully Functional Application (PPT+ Code) 12th October, 2017

Third and final submission will be on the day of presentations when they have to present their fully functional applications with code.

Prizes/ Certificates

1st – AED 15000 or equivalent value in kind
2nd – AED 12000 or equivalent value in kind
3rd – AED 8000 or equivalent value in kind

Top3 Winning teams invited to conference to receive awards
Further 5 runner up teams will be invited to attend and exhibit in conference to demonstrate their projects

All registered participants that complete the contest will receive a Certificate of Attendance. Winners of the contest will be receiving prizes on the day of the BCS ICT Conference to be held on 29th October 2017 at Anantara Eastern Mangroves Hotel Abu Dhabi, UAE.
