Q1. What made you choose Middlesex University Dubai?  

I chose Middlesex University because it’s one of the very few campuses in Dubai that offers a quality UK degree along with other extra-curricular activities to indulge in.

Q2. What aspects of your course did you enjoy most? 

I enjoyed the fact that we were taught how to research a topic before proceeding to work on the assignment related to it, as research is one of the essential skills required at my workplace and it taught me to pay attention to all the finer details that matter the most at work. I also enjoyed the fact that our programme coordinators and the Careers Department at Middlesex joined hands to arrange an exclusive Media Speed Dating for us media students to communicate with some of the leading media agencies in UAE.

Q3. What is your fondest memory of life at Middlesex? 

My fondest memory is of organising events for fundraising at Middlesex. I got the opportunity to build a lot of confidence and to work in a close-knit team of organisers taught me how to deal with different situations with the help of my team members.

Q4. What one piece of advice would you give to a prospective student interested in studying at Middlesex?

Middlesex is not just about studying the course you’ve chosen; it is also about developing every aspect of your personality that leads you to fit into the career you’ve chosen for yourself. It helps you grow as an individual and as a teammate.

Q5. Where has your professional life taken you since graduation?

Directly after university ended, I got the opportunity to intern at one of the most creative ad agencies in the world, Leo Burnett Dubai!

Q6. Can you give an example of a time when you put the things you learned at Middlesex to practical use? 

There are many such examples. One of them is when I was told to prepare a competitive review at work and was asked to do an intensive research for it. It was due to the research skills and methods we were taught back in university that I was successful in preparing an extensively detailed review.

Q7. What made you choose the industry you work in and what are its pros and cons?

I believe that the ad industry is one of the biggest agents of change and creativity. I chose this field because it gave me enough freedom to solve problems not just in an effective, but a creative way. Cons would be the long working hours, but that fades in comparison to the feeling of accomplishment when you see people believing in brands because of you.

Q8. What are the top three tips you would give to current students and recent graduates who are looking for a similar career to yourself? 

Firstly, believe in yourself. Sounds very cliché, but unless you do not believe that you have what it takes to be there, you won’t be able to go very far in this industry.

Secondly, keep yourself up to date. Inspiration can spring up from the most mundane trends, so always keep in touch with the world because that will help you shape it.

Finally, never stop learning. If you are open to learning, you will never be bored of your profession because every day will be a new lesson to do something differently, or even think differentlyNever shy away from sharing your opinions with your colleagues.

Q9. What one piece of advice would you give to the 17/18 year old you?

Never stop pursuing perfection, but always make sure to learn from your failures.
