Q1. What made you choose Middlesex University Dubai?
I studied my LLB at the London campus so was really happy to return for my masters!
Q2. What aspects of your course did you enjoy most?
The group work where we had to think on our feet, practically apply our knowledge and leverage from each other’s experience.
Q3. What is your fondest memory of life at Middlesex?
My class mates – with most of usworking full time and doing the course on the weekend we shared a lot of knowledge and formed some close bonds!
Q4. What one piece of advice would you give to a prospective student interested in studying at Middlesex?
Choose the subject that you are passionate about – as the studies do not only take a lot of commitment in terms of theory but if you are not passionate about what you are studying then it is hard to connect the dots and apply it in your career.
Q5. Where has your professional life taken you since graduation?
Well at the time of graduating I was still working in legal – and finally took the step into HR and I’ve never looked back since. I started as an HR generalist and have been lucky enough to diversify my experience to specialise in learning and development, leadership, succession and now talent acquisition.
Q6. Can you give an example of a time when you put the things you learned at Middlesex to practical use?
The list would be too long! I still go back to my text books from time to time! The course gave me the foundations which I then built on within my roles.
Q7. What made you choose the industry you work in and what are its pros and cons?
I am currently working in the retail industry – to be honest I didn’t choose the industry I chose the brand!! I have been a sports and Adidas fan since childhood so to work for this iconic brand and company was a dream! The pros are the brands, people and diversity the cons from a talent acquisition perspective is that the war for talent is rife – but that is what makes it interesting and challenging!
Q8. What are the top three tips you would give to current students and recent graduates who are looking for a similar career to yourself?
Be innovative – make yourself seen
Be yourself – success comes with authenticity
Be committed – only you can build your career.
Q9. What one piece of advice would you give to the 17/18 year old you?
Be more confident and believe in yourself – anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
