Q1. What made you choose Middlesex University Dubai?
I’ve always wanted to get a British degree and experience the typical university life. Middlesex University Dubai was offering what I wanted.
Q2. What aspects of your course did you enjoy most?
I thoroughly enjoyed working on presentations and building campaigns.
Q3. What is your fondest memory of life at Middlesex?
All the time I spent with my friends and classmates. Whether it be group assignments, studying for exams or just sitting in the student lounge playing games.
Q4. What one piece of advice would you give to a prospective student interested in studying at Middlesex?
Be prepared to work hard and play hard.
Q5. Where has your professional life taken you since graduation?
I have been working in the industry for over 6 years now, since I completed my undergraduate degree from Middlesex. I am working as a Marketing & Business Development Manager now. I feel blessed Alhamdulillah.
Q6. Can you give an example of a time when you put the things you learned at Middlesex to practical use?
All the time. Whether it be marketing research, marketing tools, budgeting etc., you apply what you have learnt.
Q7. What made you choose the industry you work in and what are its pros and cons?
Marketing is my passion. I am great at it, and I love it. The field is so vast, that you never get bored. There is a lot of travel involved, you meet people from all walks of life and every day, it’s something new. The cons are the long working hours, but when you love what you do, that doesn’t matter.
Q8. What are the top three tips you would give to current students and recent graduates who are looking for a similar career to yourself?
1.) Prepare yourself for rejections as there are hundreds of people applying for the same post. Don’t let it bring you down. 2.) Be confident, but don’t be over confident. There’s a fine line- never cross it. 3.) Be open to learning. When you are given more responsibility, it means you are worthy. Don’t let the monetary aspect disappoint you. Learn and strive to be a better person both personally and professionally.
Q9. What one piece of advice would you give to the 17/18 year old you?
I graduated from Middlesex University Dubai at the age of 19. The only advise I would give the 17/18 year old me would be ambitious, not over ambitious. Life is too short to crib over failures. You just need to promise yourself never to repeat your mistakes ever again.
