Dr. Eliseo Ferrante, MDX Faculty's research on Swarm Robotics
- Tuesday, 27 June 2017
Dr. Eliseo Ferrante, Senior Lecturer from the School of Science and Technology at Middlesex University Dubai has recently published his Research on Swarm Robotics.
Swarm robotics is the discipline that studies how to design the behaviour of large groups of robots. It takes inspiration from Applied models studied in Ethology and evolutionary biology, specifically those related to social insects but also bird flocks and school of fish.
It focuses on the design of individual controllers that self-organize in their desired emergent collective behaviour. These individual controllers are typically very simple and only rely on local sensing, local communication, and avoid any form of global information (e.g. GPS positioning).
