- Saturday, 8 October 2016
Have you climbed the stairs this morning?
Middlesex University Dubai known for its sports culture and contribution towards the community, participated in the charitable “Hilton Dubai Tower Race” held on Saturday, 8th October 2016.
Six of our students represented our TEAM MIDDLESEX at this brilliantly organized race, all members of our Middlesex Athletics Team, under the mentorship of Coach Sasa Obradovic.
There were a total of 125 runners, racing 36 floors, a total of 370 stairs! Winning the 11th place in the overall female category was our student Chelsea Perera, while Hamzah Abugosh, undergraduate student of our Dubai Campus won 14th place in the male category. The other runners, 4 male students all completed the race well above the mid table!
According to Coach Sasa, Fitness Instructor and Athletics Coach at Middlesex University Dubai “It is an achievement for the athletes of Middlesex University, in spite of it being only 2 weeks since the start of University and fitness training, and the athletes had a very short preparatory time for the race”.
An important aspect of the student experience is the active sports culture. Participating in the “Hilton Dubai Tower Race”, Middlesex University Dubai not only contributed towards raising funds and supporting the Rashid Center for the Disabled, but also continued our efforts to instill positive values of hard work and sportsmanship amongst students.
Making up for the missed classes of Sunday, October 2nd, due to the public holiday of the Islamic New Year, the athletes balanced their sports along with academics – they attended their respective extra classes after the race.
Congratulations, Athletics Team and Coach Sasa!
