Employment Law Conference a huge success!

On Saturday 28th May 2016 the DIFC Dispute Resolution Authority Academy of Law in conjunction with Middlesex University Dubai hosted a conference on UAE and DIFC Employment Law at Middlesex University Dubai. The conference was a resounding success attended by 68 delegates from the Legal and Human Resources community in Dubai. Speakers included Thenji Macanda, Senior Associate, Taylor Wessing; Luke Tapp, Head of Middle East Employment Practice, Pinsent Masons LLP; Emma Davies, ALEC; Bushra Ahmed, Barrister and Head of Dispute Resolution, KBH Kaanuun, DIFC Lawyers’ Lawyer of the Year and Shiraz Sethi, Head of Employment, Stephenson Harwood Middle East LLP, DIFC Young Lawyer of the Year 2015. Delegates were given interesting, informative, up to date and firsthand accounts of the law, practice and jurisprudence relating to all aspects of employment law in the UAE generally and the DIFC in particular. The conference concluded with a panel discussion hosted by the speakers in which the audience fully engaged with their own experiences and questions relating to these seminal issues of UAE law and business.

The conference was very well received by those who attended. Credit for its success goes to the calibre of the panel, the organiser’s staff, in particular, Dr Tenia Kyriazi, Tommy Mc Donagh and Vanja Grdinic from Middlesex University Dubai and Clifford Lewis and Nilofer Dsouza from the Academy of Law, as well as to the support of the Director of Middlesex University Dubai, Dr Cedwyn Fernandez, and the Director of the Academy of Law, David Gallo, all of whose vision and hard work brought the conference to fruition.
