Middlesex University’s Vice Chancellor has appointed prominent academic Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes as the Middlesex University Dubai’s Director. The announcement was made by Vice Chancellor Tim Blackman at the 10th Graduation ceremony where over 3000 graduates and their families attended.
Dr. Cedwyn is an economist and prior to taking up the Director role was the Deputy Director at Middlesex University Dubai . In 2012, as the MBA Program Leader at Middlesex University Dubai he oversaw the Middlesex MBA being ranked #1 MBA in Dubai by Forbes Middle East. He has had over a decade of experience in Higher Education in the UAE and has been responsible for setting up innovative programmes across universities. Cedwyn also has hands on experience in the corporate world as an economist with Saudi Arabian Airlines where he was in-charge of international project investments. Cedwyn research interests are focused on the region and are in the areas of macroeconomics, international business management and supply chain management. Cedwyn has been a judge at the SCATA supply chain awards, the LOG ME and Airline Business Awards and is a regular speaker at industry events.
Dame Janet Ritterman the Chancellor of Middlesex University while congratulating Cedwyn said “ Middlesex University Dubai increased student enrolment and offering of new programmes will clearly help the Dubai campus thrive and go from strength to strength under your leadership”.
Cedwyn thanked the University Executive for their trust and all his colleagues at Middlesex University for their support. He said “ Middlesex University Dubai is now the university of choice in the region. It is an honour to lead the university in its next phase which will continue to align its programmes in line with the rapid development of the UAE and the region”.
