Musafir.com co-founder shares his Entrepreneurship story

The Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics at Middlesex University Dubai hosted Mr. Albert Dias, co-founder of Musafir.com, to provide students an insight into the world of Entrepreneurship. Mr. Dias delivered an engaging Guest Lecture session titled- Starting up in E-commerce, to BIS and IT students at the Oasis Theatre on 13th December. Mr. Dias who leads the Marketing and Technology side of the business at the company, unfolded the Musafir story in a session that was interactive and covered both the business and technology aspects of setting up an E-commerce business. Reflecting on his personal journey with setting up Musafir.com, Mr. Dias discussed topics ranging from idea generation to business challenges to technology and security considerations in a session that encouraged students to Dream Big and not shy away from putting ideas to test.

Mr. Dias enthusiastically attended to students’ questions towards the end of his session, providing practical advice on how to weigh potential ideas and seek input from potential mentors. The lecture was arranged by Mr. Jaspreet Singh Sethi, lecturer with DCEI and was part of the department’s effort to engage with industry and expose students to real life business and technology practices.

The students of the Accounting and Finance Department celebrated the success of the second edition of the Financial Modeling Club (FMC2.0) on 6 March 2024. Led by students, this year’s FMC 2.0 featured four upskilling workshops and two competitions. A total of fifty-five students secured the Foundations Certificate in Financial Modeling, offered by our academic partner, FMI. Special congratulations to Chirag Kherajani for earning the Financial Modeling Institute scholarship for Advanced Financial Modeling certification.
