Middlesex University Dubai Celebrates Success Of Over 600 Graduates At The 10th Annual Graduation Ceremony


Dubai, 17 November 2015, Middlesex University Dubai celebrated its biggest 10th annual graduation ceremony last week (14 November), with over 600 students graduating, many of whom came from far and wide including Nigeria, Russia and the UK to collect their degree certificates. The Ceremony took place Jumeirah Emirates Towers where 1500 friends and family joined in the celebrations.Graduates were awarded in a range of disciplines both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The top students for each school were awarded prizes of which were kindly provided by our Graduation main sponsor Tag Heuer along with Rivoli, who were our sponsors for our Postgraduate Graduates.

Among them we saw two honorary graduates awarded with Middlesex University Honorary Doctorates by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tim Blackman, for their commitment and overall achievements in the region.His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, the Deputy Director-General of Dubai Municipality was awarded the honorary degree in the first ceremony and Mr. Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airports was awarded the honorary doctorate in the second ceremony.

The ceremony was presided by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tim Blackman, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Waqar, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Judith Lamie and Dean of the Business School, Anna Kyprianou.

Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, Middlesex University Dubai Director, commented: "It was wonderful to welcome back so many of our graduates at the Awards Ceremony in Dubai, for many of the families it was the first time they had visited Dubai and the United Arab Emirates."

The graduates had the opportunity to meet with fellow students on their courses and the University staff who supported them with their studies prior to the ceremonies.

Saif Aldin Khalil, a graduate at Middlesex University Dubai said: "Graduation was fantastic. The day had a real sense of occasion and having attended two graduation ceremonies, one for my undergraduate and now for my postgraduates studies, this was by far the best.

"The staff made us all feel extremely welcome, and the Vice Chancellor spoke to each of the graduates with personal message, when awarded the degrees – it felt very special! The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all."

Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes added: "I was delighted to be able to speak with our students and learn about their academic journey with us. For some, we are sure they will continue onto postgraduate study.

"As Middlesex University Dubai goes from strength to strength, I want to congratulate all of our graduates on their achievements and I wish every one of them the best for the future."

The Valedictorians who spoke on behalf of the class of 2015 students were Ms. Masooma Bilgrami and Jennifer Osayawe Atu.Over 600 graduates who studied at Middlesex University Dubai, from our schools, Health and Education, Science and Technology, Law, Business and Media, attended this year's graduation ceremonies.

Middlesex University Dubai  is celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary, after opening its doors with just 30 students in 2005, it now has over 2500 students on campus studying full and part time courses.
