MA Media Students Speak To Undergraduates

14/02/2013

MA Media and Communications Management students shared their work experiences with second year Media students during a careers session on Tuesday 13 February. Layla Hassan, Communications Executive for Saks Fifth Avenue gave fascinating examples of media relations in the fashion industry and emphasised the importance of maintaining effective communication with fashion magazine editors. Chenine Groenewald, Content and Social Media Manager for LBi, kept the students enthralled with anecdotes about her analysis of website traffic and social media interaction. Chenine’s client list includes Ferrari World, so her session was highly interactive, with students relating well to both her client and her discussion on the development of client relationships to effectively maintain website content. She explained ways of developing, implementing and managing content, and social media strategies to best increase website traffic. The session was brought to a close by Sally Saeed, a journalist, who discussed her days as a journalist in Iran and the hectic lifestyle that the coverage of breaking news entailed.
