Q1. What made you choose Middlesex University?

Middlesex University offers quality British honors degree in 3 years, as compared to other universities which require students to undergo an additional year of study in order to attain the honors title. On completion of my bachelor’s programme, I was awarded 9 exemptions out of 14 papers of the ACCA professional qualification. Middlesex University also offers a healthy environment and an array of opportunities for students who want to grow on personal as well as professional front. The university has an excellent Careers department which works very hard to help students become employable and get fantastic job opportunities.

My fondest memory of university life that I will cherish for many years to come would be my graduation ceremony. I was humbled and overwhelmed to have received the honor of representing and speaking on behalf of the graduating class of 2015 as the Valedictorian. November 14th 2015 was the perfect culmination to my journey at Middlesex and will always be the highlight of my student life.

Q4. What one piece of advice would you give to a prospective student interested in for studying at Middlesex?

If you’re looking for a university which gives you excellent prospects of growth, then Middlesex University is the place for you. My one piece of advice would be to never wait for the last minute. Make academics your priority if you’re aiming for a first class degree. Time management is your key player.

Working and studying, together with active participation in extra-curricular activities, enhanced my ability to work well under pressure and polished my time management and organization skills.

Besides these, the technical skills that I gained throughout my course were of great use to me during my internships.

Q7. What made you choose the industry you work in and what are its pros and cons?

I chose the Finance industry as I am passionate about numbers and analysis. The best part about this field is that there is no end to your learning curve and there are tremendous opportunities to grow. Even in times of recession, finance professionals are always in demand. Cons – I can’t really think of any.

Q8. What are the top three tips you would give to current students and recent graduates who are looking for a similar career to yourself?

1 – Utilize your time well. You will thank yourself later for making the right career choices from the very beginning. The long summer break is the perfect time for you to gain work experience through internships.

2 – Once you graduate, your aim should be to gain practical work in your field. Do not chase a fantastic pay check in the beginning of your career. Look for a permanent role, or an internship which will convert into permanent employment. Also very importantly, don’t be disheartened if luck is not in your favour; you can always study further towards a professional qualification or a master’s degree while looking for employment.

3 – Manage your time well. Time management is critical to success.

Q9. What one piece of advice would you give to the 17/18 year old you?

Choose quality over quantity.
